This product replaces Vitamin A 4000 ie (V1057) and consists of vegan softgels, in a base of MCT oil. This product has a new product code and new EAN code.

Vitamin A 4000 ie from Vitals consists of vegan softgels containing a high dose of vitamin A in the stable and pure form retinyl palmitate, in a base of MCT oil. Softgels are popular and extremely pleasant to use because they are easy to swallow. Fortunately, softgels today are no longer manufactured exclusively from animal gelatin. They are now also available from vegetable sources (such as tapioca starch from cassava). Vitamin A 4000 ie from Vitals is therefore also very suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Vitamin A: the versatile vitamin for eyes, skin and immune system
Vitamin A is important for many functions in your body. It helps in the development of cells so that they can properly perform their specific task, such as in the skin and the mucous membranes in intestines and lungs. For the eyes, vitamin A is also essential. Among other things, it helps maintain sharp vision, even in the dark. In addition, vitamin A supports the maintenance of a normal moisture balance of the eyes and contributes to the healthy function of the cornea. Vitamin A also plays a role in the proper and balanced function of the immune system. It also helps your body make iron more readily available from body stores, which is important for maintaining proper iron levels in your blood.

Difference between vitamin A (retinol) and provitamin A (beta-carotene)
In dietary supplements, you may encounter two forms of vitamin A: beta-carotene and retinol. Beta-carotene is also called provitamin A, because your body must first convert it into vitamin A. The advantage of beta-carotene is that its conversion is regulated in the body in such a way that too much vitamin A is never formed.

But there is also a disadvantage: the conversion of beta-carotene to vitamin A is not always efficient. That means you can't be sure how much vitamin A you'll eventually get from beta-carotene. Therefore, in situations where you need extra vitamin A, it may be wise to choose a supplement with readily available vitamin A, in the form of retinol. Sometimes a combination of retinol and beta-carotene is also used, for example in pregnancy vitamins.

Important to know: in the Netherlands and Belgium, the amount of vitamin A (retinol) in supplements is legally limited to 1200 mcg per day, an amount that is safe even for pregnant women. Vitamin A 4000 ie from Vitals contains exactly that safe dosage of 1200 mcg per vegan softgel, in the form of retinyl palmitate. This is a stable compound of retinol with a fatty acid, so the vitamin A is better preserved and optimally effective.
